MyFinote Terms & Conditions

Welcome to MyFinote. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the MyFinote mobile application. By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Acceptance of Terms

• By accessing or using MyFinote, you confirm that you are at least 16 years of age (or the minimum age set by the law of your country), have read and understood these Terms, and agree to be legally bound by them.
• These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and MyFinote regarding your use of the application.

2. Description of Service & Core Features

• MyFinote is an offline-first personal and collaborative finance app: budgeting, expense and income tracking, bills and reminders, financial notes, and analysis tools, with optional shared budgets and trips that let several people collaborate, split expenses, and settle up. Nearby (peer-to-peer) sharing is always free; cloud sharing and some other features require a Pro subscription or a Trip Pass. Current plans, features and any usage limits are shown in the app's Subscription screen and may change from time to time.

3. Subscriptions, In-App Purchases & Billing

• Subscription Tiers: MyFinote offers a Free tier and a Pro subscription (monthly or yearly). Current pricing and features are shown in the Subscription section of the app.
• Billing & Auto-Renewal: In-app subscriptions are billed via Google Play Billing or Apple App Store and automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) unless cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the renewal date.
• Cancellation & Refunds: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Google Play Store or Apple App Store account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle. Refunds are subject to the policies of Google Play or Apple App Store.
• Right of withdrawal and refunds: where consumer law gives you a right to withdraw from a digital purchase, it is handled by Apple or Google as the seller of the subscription.
• Trip Pass: MyFinote also offers a one-time Trip Pass, sold by Google Play or the Apple App Store, that lets you cloud-share one trip without a Pro subscription. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: it does not renew, and it is attached to the first trip you use it for and cannot be moved to another. Stores do not restore one-time purchases, so we keep a record of your purchase against your account to let you use it later. If a purchase is refunded by Apple or Google, cloud sharing for the trip it was attached to stops; every member keeps their own copy of the data on their device.
• Price Changes: We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with advance notice. Price changes will apply to subsequent billing cycles.
• Cloud sharing (budgets synced through our servers) is a Pro or Trip Pass feature, available only in the countries shown in the app; nearby, peer-to-peer sharing is always free. Current usage limits for shared budgets and trips are shown on the Subscription screen and may change.
• If your Pro plan ends, cloud syncing for the budgets you host pauses until you renew. Nearby sharing still works and every member keeps the copy on their own device. You may not share your account or plan with others to get around these terms.

4. User Accounts, Guest Mode & Security

• You may use the app without an account in Guest Mode, with all data stored locally on your device.
• Creating an account enables cloud sync, shared budget collaboration, Google Drive backup, and multi-device subscription access.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account.
• Account Deletion: You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Profile → Delete Account. Account deletion initiates a 30-day scheduled grace period before permanent deletion of cloud data, with an option to immediately wipe local device data.

5. Collaborative Budgets & Group Sharing

• When you create or join a shared budget or trip, you grant permission for other authorized members of that budget to view expenses, split shares, settlement status, member names, and event checklists.
• Budget owners can manage member permissions and remove participants.
• You agree not to post abusive, unlawful, or infringing content in shared budget titles, notes, or participant names.
• MyFinote is not responsible for financial disputes or disagreements between participants in shared budgets.

6. Acceptable Use

• You agree not to use MyFinote for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
• You must not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or interfere with the app, servers, sync protocols, or APIs.
• You must not input falsified or deceptive financial data intended to misrepresent transactions to other members in shared budgets or lend/owe records.

7. Financial Disclaimer & Not Financial Advice

• MyFinote is a personal financial tracking and budgeting tool only. It does not provide certified financial, investment, accounting, tax, or legal advice.
• Budget Health Scores, net savings computations, spending pacing, interest calculations, and split settlements are automated informational estimates based solely on user-entered data.
• Always consult a qualified financial advisor for significant financial decisions. We are not responsible for any financial decisions made based on app calculations.

8. Lend & Owe & Interest Calculator Disclaimer

• The Lend & Owe feature and Interest Calculator are provided solely for personal record-keeping convenience and informational reference.
• MyFinote is not a bank, registered lender, NBFC, debt collection agency, or credit institution.
• Lend & owe records and interest computations do not constitute legally binding loan agreements, promissory notes, or financial instruments.
• We are not liable for any disputes, unpaid debts, or financial losses arising from personal lending between users.

9. Data Backup & User Responsibility

• Because MyFinote is offline-first, your primary financial data resides on your device. You are responsible for creating regular backups via local export (device or Apple iCloud Drive) or Google Drive backup.
• Local backups are password-encrypted — if you forget your password, the backup cannot be recovered.
• We are not liable for data loss resulting from device damage, theft, OS upgrades, app reinstallation, or unbacked-up data.
• Backup files are stored in your private storage, Apple iCloud Drive, or Google Drive and are subject to their respective terms and security policies.

10. Cloud & Local Backups

• Google Drive Backup requires authorising the app, which is then only given access to files it creates in your Drive.
• Manual backups can be saved to local storage or Apple iCloud Drive as password-encrypted JSON files.
• Backups are stored in your private accounts and devices. MyFinote does not retain a copy.
• You may revoke Google Drive access at any time via your Google Account settings.
• Active internet connectivity is required for Google Drive backup and restore operations, or when syncing with iCloud Drive.

11. App Lock & Security

• MyFinote offers an optional Biometric App Lock utilizing Touch ID, Face ID, or your device PIN.
• Biometric authentication is handled entirely by your device operating system. We do not store biometric data.
• You are responsible for enabling and maintaining the security of your device.

12. Notifications & Reminders

• MyFinote provides local on-device reminders and cloud push notifications (for shared budget updates, bill reminders, and budget alerts) when enabled.
• You can customize or disable notification types at any time in Settings → Notifications & Reminders.

13. Intellectual Property

• All content, features, designs, logos, algorithms, and software within MyFinote are the exclusive property of MyFinote and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
• You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app in accordance with these Terms.

14. Limitation of Liability

• To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MyFinote and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app.
• This includes loss of data, loss of profits, commercial losses, or interpersonal financial disputes.
• In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed the amount paid by you, if any, to MyFinote in the preceding twelve (12) months.

15. Termination & Account Deletion

• We may suspend or terminate your access to cloud services if you violate these Terms or engage in harmful activities.
• You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Profile → Delete Account. Cloud data is permanently purged following a 30-day grace period.

16. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

• These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the applicable laws of your jurisdiction of residence, without regard to conflict of law principles.
• Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in accordance with applicable consumer protection and jurisdictional laws of your local jurisdiction.

17. Changes to Terms

• We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted in the app with an updated effective date.
• Your continued use of MyFinote after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
